Resources for People with Functional Needs

In emergency management, the term "functional needs" is used to indicate anyone with some sort of special need. This might be a medical condition or physical handicap, a lack of fluency in English or even a lack of access to transportation.

People with functional needs should plan appropriately for emergencies. Planning should include: building a support network of friends and relatives, ensuring that plans and supplies are in place and accessible and making sure that local first responders know in advance of additional assistance or specialized resource needs in the event of an evacuation.

The Emergency Preparedness Planning Form below is a four-page information and planning tool for people with functional needs. You can use this guide to help yourself or a family member get prepared for emergencies.
